Different Types of V Belts

People generally think that only one type of V built is available in the market but its wrong,
there are many v belt types in Dubai available in the market. They are used as per their needs and
applications.

Here We Have Discussed Different Types Of V Belts:


1) Classic Belts

Classic belts are one of the most common types of belts available in the market. This types of
belts are generally used in the agricultural applications and industrial machinery.
Classic belts have an impressive temperature resistance (-31F to 158F) but they have much less
resistance to oil.
To measure the classic belt, top width and internal length are used. Depending on the width,
there are 5 types of classic V belts available in the market:
• A Type V belt: ½” top width
• B Type V belt: 21/32” top width
• C Type V belt: 7/8” top width
• D Type V belt: 1 ¼” top width
• E Type V belt: 1 ½” top width

2) Double-Sided Belts

In the applications where both the side of the belt require power transmission, Double sided
belts are preferred as the best belt. These types of belts are generally used in the textile and
industrial applications.
This belts also come with good temperature resistance (-31F to 158F). But against oil, they have
limited resistance.
Double-Sided Belts are measured with the width of the cross section centre (midpoint) and the
internal length (n inches). And as per the width of the belt, they are divided into 3 types:
• AA Double Sided belt: ½” centre width

• BB Double Sided belt: 21/32” centre width
• CC Double Sided belt: 7/8” centre width.

3) Banded Belts

Branded belts are generally used in the applications where the pulley design requires two or
more v belts joined together to connect multiple pulley drives to avoid load fluctuation or belt
turnover. And these types of belts are used by original equipment manufacturers.
Branded Belts also come with the same temperature resistance as the classic belts and double-
sided belts (-31F to 158F). And comes with limited oil resistance.
As per the width, these belts are divided into 9 types:
• Banded A: ½” width
• Banded B: 21/32” width
• Banded C: 7/8” width
• Banded D: 1 1/4” width
• Banded 3V: 3/8” width
• Banded 5V: 5/8” width
• Banded 8V: 1” width
• Banded Cogged 3VX: 3/8” width
• Banded Cogged 5VX: 5/8” width
